Dearest reader,

Welcome to Dusty Attic.

I am Jenna, one of the co-founders of this very small indie magazine. This place is the culmination of mine and Holl’s love and passion for writing and stories.

We’ve both been writing for a while and have been in the community long enough to know that it needs these spaces, the ones that celebrate and uplift creativity. It seems only natural that this is where our journeys would lead. But, honestly, the spark came from one text message:

We should start a literary publication together.

I sent that to Holl because I’d just finished writing a story and found I was struggling to find a place where it would fit. Many small publications I found were closed (either permanently, or not) or looking for something very different from what I had.

My solution was to create a new space and less than a month later, here we are!

It helps that Holl also had an idea for an indie lit mag.

We both wanted to create a space for writers to share their love of all things fantasy and horror, with a whimsical twist. It’s a contentious topic, but we are firmly pro-cozy horror here.

This cozy attic filled with forgotten stories seemed like the perfect place to invite people to share their stories too.

If you have a forgotten story or curiosity, something like you’d find in a lost corner of a library or tucked away in an antique shop, you can find our submission guidelines here. We’d love to bring your stories and poems out into the world.
